A Generative Audiovisual NFT Collection
SolTunes is a labor of love. It embodies our aspiration to establish a new frontier of music-making while bridging the middle ground between music creation and music consumption. We researched and created a musical and technological framework that allows for the generative musical composition of millions of new pieces of music that are guaranteed to be cohesive. SolTunes changes the way that music is experienced and utilizes the generative medium to allow people to listen to music with the ears of a creator as well as a listener.
We believe that NFTs are a technology that demands challenging the status quo of music creation, much in the same way that cryptocurrencies are challenging the status quo of financial institutions. SolTunes is a response to that challenge. We are not releasing pre-existing music as an NFT, nor creating a music format that would be imaginable outside of the NFT space. The music of SolTunes specifically thrives within the artistic ecosystem that our project creates.

Chaos, Art, and Coding
SolTunes unlocks the creative aspects of traditional art and music and translates them perfectly to the digital space. The generative process used by SolTunes is meant to mimic the creative process of a human artist. Art can be interpreted as a work of association of different concepts, with new outcomes arising from chaos.
In the same way as an artist decides to pair strikingly different materials along with contiguous elements, the algorithm of SolTunes puts together unexpected elements in a cohesive fashion.
This is achieved in two major ways:
Firstly, the majority of the assets are carefully prepared to be mostly compatible with each other, visually and sonically. At the same time, a minority of the assets that are idiosyncratic are tiered in less probable sets, so that pure creative chaos is given a strong artistic direction.
Secondly, to guarantee a true generative process, the system hinges upon a random seed generator. The seed is a string of characters, which is put in correspondence with all possible SolTunes generated. Since the seed allows for billions of variations, but the number of NFTs minted at the drop date will be far less, this system guarantees the true uniqueness and unpredictability of each outcome.
A last important concept is the credo that the code itself is part of the creative process.
We are professional musicians, and for us, the process of learning a coding language and creating the algorithms has followed the same artistic process used when learning a musical technique and using it in a composition: as technique melds with aesthetic, coding melds with artistic intent in SolTunes.
Ownership and Future Development
When minting a SolTune, one gets ownership of the specific band represented in that NFT.
The owner does not possess all of the piece’s single attributes, but solely that specific combination of attributes.
Our technology allows the possibility to merge different band members and attributes in order to mint a unique NFT created by the owner.
This transfers creative powers to the community, which can further extend the creative process and generate new and unprecedented SolTunes. The community thus seamlessly transitions from consumer to creator.
Artistic motivation
The role of music has changed through the centuries and evolved dramatically in recent decades.
The meaning of being a musician, a stage performer, a composer, a producer is dependent on two major forces: the community represented by the artist, and the technology available to the artist.
If music is indeed considered the collective expression of a community, SolTunes is the voice of the novel movement of artists arising within and because of the crypto-community. It represents a new era of renaissance in which different art forms, such as pixel art, music composition, coding, and generative art, can coexist and merge into one.
As new ways to produce and consume music emerge in different communities and through different technologies, SolTunes aims to be the trailblazer of generative song-making, being community-driven and based on crypto-technology.
